About Gümrükten Geçer Mi?
What this site does, which sources it relies on and how we keep the information current.
What we do
Gümrükten Geçer Mi? (“Will it pass customs?”) is a free reference that answers, item by item, what you can bring into Turkey in your luggage or by courier, and how much duty you pay. The Turkish site has an instant search tool, a page for every item, duty calculators and guides; the English pages cover the topics most relevant to visitors, students and people moving to Turkey.
Our sources
Every rule is based on a primary source, and pages show the legal basis and source links:
- Laws and decisions published in Turkey's Official Gazette: Customs Law No. 4458, Decision 2009/15481 and its Annex 9 allowance list, Presidential Decisions 8787 and 10813, VAT Law No. 3065, Law No. 2863 on cultural property
- Ministry of Trade: gumrukrehberi.gov.tr, FAQs and circulars
- Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) — Mobile Device Registration System
- Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM) — drone instruction
- Regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Revenue Administration
- Turkish Customs Tariff Schedule (2026)
How we keep it up to date
- All rules live in a single data file; amounts (430 EUR, 1,500 EUR, rates, fees) are written once and every page is generated from that file, so a change updates the tool, item pages, calculators and guides together.
- The rules are regularly checked against official sources. Last full verification: 24.10.2026.
- Every change is listed with its date and source on the What's changed page.
- Where sources conflict, we say so on the page; we do not publish what we cannot verify.
